Finishing the remaining stretch goal books

To all Members of the Tribe,

My apologies for the lateness of this update. June turned out to be consumed by two major conventions for me, including UK Game Expo at the beginning of the month, and then Origins in Columbus only two weeks later.

After we got Runemasters out shortly after the last update we focused on creating a pipeline for the remaining 7 books. The good news is that all of the books have been scanned in and OCR'd from the originals. The artwork has also been prepared. All that remains is the layout for the remaining books:

• Pavis and Big Rubble have started layout. 
• Griffin Mountain and Borderlands are awaiting layout. 
• SoloQuest Collection, Troll Pak, and the RQ Companion are going through final edits. 

While we are behind on these remaining books, which we last had scheduled for the end of June, we have had to push layout back for two main reasons. One of our layout people had to bow out for personal reasons, and the other had to be reassigned to fill in on two other pressing projects. I don't like having to shift resources like that away from this project, but it was the lesser of two evils, kind of like choosing between Mallia and Wakboth...

Work is continuing to get these done as we scramble to bring new and additional layout people on board to cover increased demand on all fronts. When I have firm dates for delivery they shall be announced straight away. We realize time has been romping on, and know you are keen to get these last remaining items.

Our Plans for completing the remaining PDFs

To all members of the Tribe,

I have recently returned from a week long series of meetings in Seattle where the management team of Chaosium went through all of our goals for the year, and one of the priority items is "Completing Kickstarters". By that, I mean completing them with all haste, without sacrificing quality. We have been blessed with having very patient backers, and we should always be mindful that that is not an inexhaustible resource. In terms of this Kickstarter, here is what we have left to do:

• Plunder has been recently completed and will be available for download this week via BackerKit.
• RuneMasters is in layout and will be available for download in April.
• Pavis and Big Rubble go layout in April.
• Griffin Mountain goes to layout in early May.
• Borderlands goes to layout in mid May.
• SoloQuest Collection is currently being edited.
• Troll Pak is currently finishing OCR and cleanup.
• RQ Companion is about to go through OCR and cleanup. We're saving it for last because it was the last RQ2 product released by Chaosium in 1983.

Why these dates are achievable: We now have two editors and two layout people working on the above books. We have been tasked with getting all of these remaining "in process" stretch goal items done by the end of June 2017. As part of this goal we are going to get these books physically printed at the same time so they can be purchased in one go, as opposed to one here and one there. They will be printed in Europe and in the US for faster availability as well. 

BONUS: Printed poster-sized versions of the large Griffin Mountain, Pavis, Big Rubble, Borderlands, and Troll Pak maps will be available for sale as well. These will be sold on the Chaosium store on redbubble.com. PDFs of these maps will be included with the PDFs of the books, of course. 

Speaking of maps, here's something we found in the archives last week:

We'll be scanning these ORIGINALS in and restoring them. The yellowing around many of the place names is from the Letraset dry-transfer lettering commonly used by Chaosium in the 1970s.

REMINDER about the 3 Unpublished Manuscripts and the RQ Playtest Manuscript: If you are due one or both of these premium rewards and have not received them yet, it is most likely because we have not received an address verification email from you. Please message us via Kickstarter or send an email to [email protected] and we can send the books to you as soon as you have confirmed your shipping address is correct. These 1024 pages of material are ready to go!
